Automobiles in German Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers stated they were contacted by a individual who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police report early analysis suggest the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.

A high-ranking official said the vandalism made him speechless and had to be addressed promptly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
