A comeback the Russian player won his initial championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since March of 2023.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and recurring emotional displays on court had led some to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better serve.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a shot at the net area, with Moutet failing to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
