Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, attacking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then settled his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to execute the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
